I practice a combination of gentle, non-invasive massage treatments to restore the healthy functioning of the mind and body. In either 30 or 60 minute sessions, I use a variety of holding and massage techniques to achieve a deep release of tension in your muscles and fascia, allowing for deep relaxation and improvement in both physical health and mental state. Clients receive the massage while wearing their own comfortable clothes, sitting in a chair or lying down on the massage table.
Tui Na (pronounced twee-nah) is a 5000 year old traditional Chinese therapeutic massage that means to "push grasp." It aims to balance the body's Qi- the flow of energy in the body.
Yin Style is a more gentle and subtle approach that employs gentle rocking and pressure in order to increase blood flow, reduce muscular and joint paint, and promote self healing.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on technique that uses light pressure- about the size of a nickle- to release tension in the body's connective tissues and fascia.
It aims to relieve pain, undue stress, and to improve Central Nervous System (CNS) function by taking the body to a place of pain-free peace and calm to promote healing and release tension.
Cranial-sacral massage focuses on using the body’s own capacity to heal in order to relieve pain and increase functionality and thus does not rely on painful or forceful intervention to achieve healing. While pain is multi-faceted, many ailments are caused at least partly by emotional and physical tension that leads to straining of muscles and connective tissue. This can create long term pain, worsen inflammation, and impair function. The primary aim of this massage is to provide a physical and emotional release that will improve the movement of fluid and energy throughout the body. Because the emphasis is on holding, supporting, and unwinding rather than pushing on muscles or joints, there should not be pain either during or after the massage.
Any trauma – physical or emotional – can leave us finding that our bodies need help accessing their ability to heal. Massage sessions can help you manage acute pain, access deeper states of relaxation, and gradually achieve long term healing from trauma. Patients experiencing problems associated with muscle or joint tension, like TMJ or stiffness associated with car accidents or other traumas, often find cranial-sacral massage particularly effective. My personal experience is that this kind of massage can be a key part of recovering from these conditions, helping your body regain balance and dynamism in place of stiffness, pain, and stagnation.
At the other end of the pregnancy journey, many women need help healing post-partum, both emotionally and physically. Physical pain lingering from pregnancy and labor can make it harder to enjoy those first months with a new baby and limit your activities, and many women find the sudden shift of care and attention from their own bodies during pregnancy to infant care post-partum to be emotionally jolting. Taking time to care for your body with massage can help manage and alleviate pain, keep your body on the path to healing itself, and help new moms feel relaxed and supported.
Trying to get pregnant can be a particularly emotional and tense experience. Massage can help women who want to become pregnant by improving their overall health, activating areas traditionally associated with fertility, and easing tension. Focus on the head and spinal column can be particularly valuable for calming the mind, body, and nervous system. When you are relaxed, your body is moving freely, and your energy is balanced, the process of becoming pregnant can be easier and less stressful.
I come from a medically oriented family and worked for several years as a Registered Nurse. During that time, a personal experience I had with an allergic reaction introduced me to a variety of holistic and traditional medical disciplines I had never known about or placed much faith in before. This put me on the path to pursuing a varied education in massage and holistic treatments.
I focus on Tui Na and Cranial-Sacral massage therapy because I love their emphasis on meeting people’s bodies where they are at and allowing them to tap into their own self-healing capabilities.

What does a session cost?
60 minute sessions cost $100, and 30 minute sessions are $60. I recommend 60 minute sessions to get the most out of your experience, but shorter sessions can make sense if it's all you can fit in your schedule.
How does payment work?
Payment is accepted at the time of your massage in the form of cash, check, or PayPal/Venmo. I also accept credit card payments, however, there is a 3% surcharge to cover processing fees if you choose to pay by card.
I am pregnant, can I still get this type of massage?
There are many talented individuals that specialize in pregnacy massages, which require specific techniques, however - my focus is on post-partum healing, and I do not offer massage to women while they are pregnant.
I'm nervous about getting a massage- what should I expect?
I will meet you at the door when you walk in the entrance, and we will walk to my room down the hall. There, I will talk with you about what you are hoping to achieve or experience, and we will go over the waiver. Next, you will lie down on the massage table or sit on a chair, and I will dim the lights. I usually start with gentle pressure, then move to techniques specifically chosen for your symptoms and goals. Throughout the process, you should feel comfortable and pain free. Afterwards, we can discuss what you and observed and felt about the massage, and your body's reaction to it, and make a plan for how to build on the work we just did to continue promoting healing. I highly recommend doing a series of massage sessions to see the most profound improvements.
Do you take Insurance?
I do not take insurance at this time.
How many sessions will I need to start seeing results?
Every session will result in a release of tension, so each session will be beneficial. Individual bodies and circumstances are different, and we can discuss additional treatments together and decide on a plan going forward.
How is this different from a "regular" massage?
Most other schools of massage have you remove all or most of your clothing, and often utilize oils. In addition, many massages are expected to leave you sore or in pain for hours afterwards, in the hope that later you will feel better and it will be worth it.
At Healing in Motion MT, my massage techniques can be performed while you're wearing everyday clothing, with no need for oils or lotions. This lets us spend more time with the techniques themselves, and can fit the massage better into your day. Additionally, you shouldn't feel pain or stiffness at any point during or after the massage - I will work to get you to a point of less or no pain, and help you stay there as your body heals itself.
Do I need to bring anything in particular?
You do not! Wear clothes that you are comfortable in, and come ready to experience relief and relaxation.
